Tips and tricks to defeat all gym leaders

Each of the gym leaders in the Sinnoh region specialize in a specific type of Pokémon. However, there are some that have certain Pokémon of different types on their teams to catch players off guard.

Roco Gym Leader

The type of Pokémon that dominates Roco's team is Rock, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem for you if your starter Pokémon was Turtwig or Piplup, since Grass- and Water-type attacks are super effective against them. On the other hand, if you have chosen Chimchar, his thing is that you raise him to level 12 so that he learns the Fight-type Increasing Fist attack to finish them off.

Gym Leader Gardenia

Gardenia is an expert at Grass-type Pokémon, so it's important that you bring a Fire-type or Flying-type Pokémon to battle her. His Roserade is capable of poisoning or paralyzing you, so try to carry items that allow you to cure these conditions just in case.

Brega Gym Leader

The third gym captained by Brega can give you a lot of problems if you don't have Psychic, Flying, or Fire-type Pokémon and Fight especially to defeat his Lucario, because it's too fast and strong. His Meditite has a Light Screen and an object that increases its duration up to eight turns, but his Lucario is very strong and his Drain Fist is capable of eliminating any Pokémon with a single blow, in addition to recovering more life points than normal thanks to the Large Root object.

Mananti Gym Leader

Mananti has a few very powerful Water-type Pokémon that you will need to have some Electric-type Pokémon for his Gyarados and Floatzel and a Grass-type Pokémon to defeat Quagsire. The latter, above all, is the cornerstone of the team, because with its object and its Rain Dance, it will prepare the ground for when Floatzel comes out to fight, since it will increase its damage with Water attacks and will move faster than normal.

Fantine Gym Leader

Dark or Ghost-type Pokémon will come in handy to take down Fantina's team, which relies on wreaking havoc with status effects like Drifblim's Willow Fire or Gengar and Mismagius's Confusing Ray.

Steel Gym Leader

Fight, Earth or Fire are some of the types that can come in handy to fight against Steel. It's important to take out Bronzor quickly, because he can confuse you with his Confusing Ray or use Sand Storm, but his secret weapon is Trick Space to make his team move first, which is very well thought out since Steelix and Bastiodon are too slow , but very powerful and resistant.

Of course, be careful with using Water-type Pokémon, because their Pokémon have Electric-type attacks that can do a lot of damage to you.

Inverna Gym Leader

Snover's Frozen Rock will make the Hail that will fall last practically the entire battle, so keep in mind that every turn you will receive some damage for this reason. The Inverna team is prepared for Fire-type Pokémon to suffer quite a bit, although they are still a bad option to consider. In turn, you can use Fighting-type Pokémon that will probably get a better result.

Gym Leader Lectro

Ground-type Pokémon are the only super effective against Lectro's Electric Pokémon. The problem is that these make use of Water and Ice type attacks, so it is important that you have that detail in mind for the Pokémon you use against it. On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt to have a Grass or Fighting-type Pokémon on you to take on its Ambipom and Octillery.
