Balenciaga, the fashion house originally from Spain, whose headquarters are today in Paris, France, presented its Spring 2022 collection through a digital show.

The collection is called Balenciaga Clones and is a critique of the way in which reality has been permeated by technology and social networks.

This is how the brand explained it on its website: “We see our world through a filter: perfected, polished and retouched with Photoshop”, adding that it is no longer possible to distinguish between the genuine and the fake or between the tangible and conceptual.

To better illustrate the concept of a 'clone', the same model, Eliza Douglas, paraded each of the garments.

Although Balenciaga enjoys great prestige, this time the reception of the collection was not the best, especially since it presented a collaboration with Crocs, which generated ridicule and criticism on social networks.

It was about the introduction of two types of shoes. First of all, some high boots, made of plastic, which can be purchased in green, black and grey. Then there's the launch that caused the biggest stir: an eccentric pair of stiletto heels in the traditional Crocs design.

These shoes are also made of plastic and come in green and black. The creative director of Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia, published images of the new items on his personal Instagram account.

After the show, netizens commented: “The boots are nice, but what about the Crocs heels? We live in a wild world” or that they referred to the collaboration as something that “we don't need”, regretting that it had been released.

Similarly, there were those who questioned “who in their right mind is going to wear croc-heels?”, as is the case of this Twitter user:

However, there were also those who welcomed it and even posted ideas of what clothes they would combine with the shoes.

It is worth mentioning that both brands had already collaborated in the past by launching platform crocs , which were very successful. Likewise, Crocs recently did a collaboration with the famous DJ Diplo, which sold out in less than a week.
