The success of 'deep indigo', the jeans shared by Dior and Zara

The trendy color palette is renewed every season. After the success of green, lilac and orange last summer, for example, this autumn/winter it is dyed in yellow, red and a lot of metallic like gold and silver. Not even the most timeless range of all, the one made up of denim tones, is spared from this wheel that never stops, that of the latest fashions. Because an almost white light blue is not the same as an intense navy, and neither is the seasonal use we make of each of them. But a denim with greenish nuances is not the same as the most classic denim color of all, indigo, which is the one that Zara has chosen as the new favorite. If you are thinking of renewing your jeans, whether they are wide or skinny, choose them in deep indigo (and wear it as a total look if you want a super-trendy style).

- Autumn in jeans: looks with 'jeans' for 5 different plans

Among party dresses, yoga clothes and accessories for pets, Zara's novelties also include a prominent mention of DEEP INDIGO pieces, or what is the same, very dark denim. This autumn/winter, the basic line has up to five different models of jeans in this colour. Baggy paperbag, culottes, mid-rise skinny jeans, low-rise straight jeans and high-waisted straight jeans (in the image above) are the designs chosen by the Inditex firm to pay homage to the most classic color of jeans of all, the same one they had the first jeans patented by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis in 1873. Almost a century and a half later, indigo is still the favorite... in firms like Zara but also in the most exclusive fashion houses.

The favorite of the big firms

Because it is the most elegant shade, indigo is often chosen by the big fashion houses when they include jeans in their catwalk collections. For example, this look belongs to the Spring/Summer 2021 collection that Maria Grazia Chiuri designed for Dior. Since the Italian dressmaker took over the creative direction of the firm, jeans -fundamentally indigo- have been gaining weight in the maison. On that occasion, she proposed precisely the same combination that Zara now adapts to winter, combining indigo trousers with a jacket of the same tone. However, the Street Style - eternal lover of any type of jeans - seems to prefer contrast, wearing these classic and discreet jeans with much more groundbreaking jackets.

Indigo also triumphs on the street

A quilted jacket in a vibrant mauve or an oversized leather bomber are some of the garments with which models and influencers have worn their dark jeans, achieving daring and innovative outfits. However, the best thing about these jeans is that, combined with more classic, sober or naive garments, they can achieve diametrically opposite looks. And therein lies the success of a garment like this, its ability to adapt to different styles, ages and situations.
