The joy that makes you feel beautiful

The joy that makes you feel beautiful

In the life of every woman there are authentic moments that make your existence happy, moments of happiness that are yours alone and, without you noticing them, they favor you because they give you that halo of joy that makes any garment feel better on you, or that your face look much younger and more radiant. A few minutes that are enjoyed to the fullest, even more so when shared with people who inspire you. Take advantage of these holidays to load your mind with a beautiful profusion of images of these little pieces of happiness, as two of our favorite fashion influencers have done: the stylish Nina Urgell, who has almost a million followers on Insta and Joan Palà , the boy of the wonderful looks of Instagram. If both have joined Zalando's #JoyIsOurs manifesto, it must be for a reason...

    happiness influences you

We wanted to delve into how the moments of happiness of two very stylish celebrities, Nina Urgell and Joan Palà, inspire them when it comes to dressing. Because if they both regularly star in Zalando's Get the look section, it must be for a reason... After asking them a thousand questions, at Harper's Bazaar we have discovered that we love them not only because of the final result of their looks, but also because of the philosophy that radiate: Joy of life! The essence and the war cry of the Christmas season.

What do you like the most about these holidays, what moments are full of happiness for you?

Nina: Honestly, Christmas is not my favorite time of year. It makes me happy to be with my family, but that always, I get together with them all year round, not just at Christmas: it is the most important treasure I have. But the most special fact that I would highlight about these parties are the meals that my mother prepares.

Joan: Without a doubt, the best thing about these parties is being able to celebrate with your loved ones.

You who are a benchmark of style, where do you usually spend Christmas?

Nina: I usually spend all the holidays at my mother's house, then I try to go on a trip if the conditions allow it. I love skiing and I'm excited to get away on those dates too.

Joan: On a regular basis I spend it with my family and friends. Although some years I have also done a tropical getaway.

You both have a very defined and followed style, can you explain your basic dress-code at Christmas?

La alegría que te hace sentir guapa

Nina: I always like to incorporate a sexy touch in my Christmas looks, keeping a minimalist and basic style but with a more sensual touch.

Joan: Classic, basic but hot: Good boots, straight pants and a shirt.

A New Year's Eve in which you have felt especially favored, what outfit did you wear?

Nina: New Year's Eve 2020, with a phosphor green outfit that reflected the lights of the club a lot. It was something very different from what I had always been used to wearing and I liked it.

Joan: One year I went to a party and I put on a Paul Smith suit without a tie, which really made me feel especially favored. Just recently they added this signature to the Designer section of the Zalando website. This year it will be easier, I will spend New Year's Eve with friends, in a chill plan.

What are your fetish clothes at Christmas?

Nina: A male Black Silk Blazer.

    Joan: Good boots.

What would you give to a very special person for Christmas?

Nina: Something related to her personality and her inner world. It may be an experience and/or trip, depending on the person, or a special piece of clothing.

Joan: A perfume. It sounds a bit cliché but for me, perfumes are something very special and intimate and I think it's a good time to give them away. It is not easy, so if you do not know the person very well, I would look at her networks and give her some clothes of her style.

What are the styling 'must' for these 2021-22 holidays?

Nina: I imagine long black dresses with low backs. Thin and minimalist straps. A very Michelle Pfeiffer aesthetic in Scarface.

Joan: As I mentioned before, I think corduroy is a good ally for cold weather. Both for jackets and pants.

What classic movie or song characters inspire you when it comes to dressing?

Nina: Mireille Darc in The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe or Diane Keaton in Annie Hall.

Joan: Of course, The Talented Mr. Ripley is always an inspiration to dress up for special occasions.

Three styling tips to feel happy at Christmas.

Nina: That what you wear is a reflection of what you really want to wear, without inhibiting or repressing yourself and/or, on the contrary, not pretending to be someone you are not. My second piece of advice is to be comfortable: Comfort in clothing is essential for me. And the third, wear what suits you best and what you feel best about: there is nothing to dress better than safety.

Joan: I could say that the best advice I've been given about styling is to be yourself, wear what you like, without thinking about what or who. Simply, knowing yourself, knowing what suits you and wearing it with a hot attitude.

What kind of clothes make you happy?

Nina: The special, superminimalist and sensual dresses or outfits in the Nensi Dojaka style. They make my eyes happy and I feel pleasure in my brain every time I see them.

Joan: Vintage clothing. It's like carrying someone's story with you and having the chance to continue it.

What are you going to buy from the Zalando collection this Christmas?

Nina: At Zalando there is an infinite variety of clothes, styles and brands. My last request was a look from Arket, a Nordic brand with a minimalist, effortless style and very warm options for this winter.

Joan: I was looking for some corduroy pants and I just found a pair of Dickies from the Zalando collection in beige that elevate my look.

    Nina: a very natural star

If you are like Nina, and 72% of the Spaniards who have participated in the #JoyIsOurs survey, you will recognize that the way you dress has a direct relationship with your state of mind. Nina recognizes that she is a very natural person when it comes to facing her outfits, a naturalness that she shines with her own light when her day is an explosion of joy:

Your styling trick for the day after the big party...

Always comfort, comfortable and warm sneakers and cashmere garments. Oversized wayfarer sunglasses. The wool hat and the gloves without fingertips are ideal garments for those hangover days :)

From fashion expert to fashion expert... what would you give Joan to look good this holiday season?

I really like it when Joan wears a casual and sporty 90's tennis style. Lacoste Live Pieces or 90's inspired Lacoste polo-type garments are a great fit for him and would be a gift he would choose. And as I always think about comfort, maybe a knit sweater from Carlo Colucci or for cold days a vest or an accessory like a Ralph Lauren cap or sunglasses from Études.

Joan: masculine outfits that take risks

This inspiring influencer has conquered the hearts of Harper's stylists for his elegant style and with a sophisticated touch; but, also, for the comfort and easy going that all her outfits exude. Outfits that she knows how to wear, always, with a vital joy that has made her worthy of being one of the Zalando ambassadors for JoyIsOurs:

Your styling trick that day when you don't know what to wear, everything makes you lazy, and you have to look good for the holidays.

When I don't know what to wear, I go for dark clothes. It always favors and is easy to combine.

What would you give Nina Urgell if you had to give her a fashion gift?

Following her comfortable style, an oversized knitted jumper from Cinq à Sept could be a good option. But for me, accessories and shoes usually complete a look, so maybe a pair of MIISTA boots, a STAUD bag, a Coach watch or a Lauren Ralph Lauren belt.
